Crossraguel Abbey

Located 2 miles (3 km) southwest of Maybole in South Ayrshire, Crossraguel Abbey dates from the 13th Century and was founded by the Earl of Carrick. It was extended in the 15th and 16th centuries. The Cross of Riaghill was a great standing cross which was located nearby. The ruined abbey is now in the care of Historic Scotland.
