Old Town Hall, Hamilton

This fine Neo-Classical edifice on Cadzow Street in the centre of Hamilton was designed principally as a library, which was funded by philanthropist Andrew Carnegie (1835 - 1918). The building was opened in 1914 by King George V.

Although the municipal functions transferred to new offices in the north of the town, with the creation of South Lanarkshire Council in 1996, the building continues to contain the Hamilton Central Library.
