Sir John Fowler

English Architect and engineer. Born near Sheffield, Fowler became consulting engineer to the Great Western Railway. His most notable work was the design of the Forth Rail Bridge, but he worked on many other railway-related projects, including St. Enoch's Station in Glasgow, the Pimlico Bridge, which carried the first railway across the Thames (1860), Victoria Station and was a pioneer of the London Underground system.

Fowler bought Braemore Lodge (Wester Ross) in 1867, an estate he owned for 30 years. He was knighted in 1890 and died in Bournemouth.
