Hannah Gordon

1941 -

Stage, television, radio and screen actress. Born in Edinburgh, Gordon trained at the Royal College of Dramatic Art in Glasgow, where she won the James Bridie Gold Medal (1962). Her early stage career included performances at the Repertory Theatre in Dundee and the Glasgow Citizens' Theatre. Notable subsequent work has included the 1979 play Can you hear me at the back?, The Country Girl in 1983 and Shirley Valentine in 1989. Gordon's television work includes the comedy My Wife Next Door (1972) and Upstairs, Downstairs (1971), with Gordon Jackson (1923-90). Her films include Alfie Darling (1975), Spring and Port Wine (1970), The Elephant Man (1980) and the film based on the Taggart television series Fatal Inheritance (1993) with Mark McManus (1935-94). Also, her voice appeared in the animation Watership Down (1978).

Gordon regularly narrates radio and television programmes, and hosted the Channel 4 television art competition show Watercolour Challenge (1998).
