Mary Ure

1933 - 1975

Actress. Born in Glasgow, where she studied at the School of Drama. She was married twice, to the playwright John Osborne and later to actor Robert Shaw (1927-78). Her stage roles included Shakespeare's Hamlet and films such as Storm over the Nile (1955), with fellow Scot James Robertson Justice (1905 - 75), Look back in Anger (1958), with Richard Burton, Sons and Lovers (1960) and Where Eagles Dare (1969), with Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood.

She died in London following an accidental drug overdose.
