Pathhead

A small village in Midlothian, Pathhead lies on the eastern bank of the Tyne Water, 4 miles (6.5 km) southeast of Dalkeith. The settlement developed on a main routeway linked by a path to a ford on the Tyne that was replaced by a bridge in 1831. The village developed in association with road transport, sawmilling and the quarrying of lime.
