Thornliebank
East Renfrewshire

A western suburb of Glasgow, located in East Renfrewshire, Thornliebank lies 4 miles (6.5 km) southwest of the city centre, with Giffnock to the south and Pollokshaws to the north. It developed in association with calico printing mills and bleachfields on the Auldhouse Burn and with the quarrying of stone used to build houses in the rapidly expanding Glasgow. In the 19th century it further developed in association with the railway and industries including food processing and the manufacture of household goods
