Restored miner's cottages of Plantation Row, in Coaltown of Wemyss

A former mining village to the north of the coastal town of West Wemyss in Fife, Coaltown of Wemyss lies 3 miles (5 km) northeast of Kirkcaldy. Originally divided into Easter and Wester settlements, the villages grew together during the 1860s when the Wemyss Coal Company created a 'model' mining village for workers at the nearby Bell pit. The semi-detached miners' cottages now form part of a conservation area designated in 1980. The village has a primary school.
